Deep Tissue

Deep tissue is a type of massage therapy that focuses on getting to the deepers layers of muscle or connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and for areas that are prone to stiffness such as the upper and lower back, neck, shoulders and leg muscles.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is done to prevent or relieve injuries or stresses that are associated with exercise. The aim of sports massage is to reduce the stess and tension that can build up in the soft tissues while exercising. It can be carried out before, during or after physical activity and is designed to increase endurance and performance, to minimise chances of injury and to shorten recovery time.

Cupping

Cupping is done by applying a cup to the body and applying suction. It is especially good for tight muscles and for strething fascia. Cupping helps the tissues develop new blood flow which stimulates healing. Cupping is painless and effective for treating muscles.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points are tight areas within a muscle that refer pain to other areas of the body. For example a trigger point in the neck may cause a headache. Trigger point therapy aims to de-sensitize these areas by applying direct pressure to the trigger point. Trigger point therapy is great for alleviating pain.

Myofascial Release

Myofascia is a tough dense tissue that covers all of our muscles and bones and is abundant throughout the body. With trauma myofascia can become tight and less pliable forming scar tissue. Myofascial release aims to break down this scar tissue, relax the muscle and myofascia and restore good posture.

Dry Needling
Dry needling is a practice where very fine needles are inserted into the tight bands in the muscle tissue. It uses the same principles as trigger point therapy, the needle aims to pin point the tight band (trigger point). Dry needling is great to use when muscles are sensitive to hands on therapy. It is very effective for easing both pain and tension within muscles.
